A new form of Governance

Government and Governance in a democracy or the American-style Republic are meant to be about the People governed by the People.

What we instead have is a form of government where people and corporates with money get to pay to play and get the government to do what they want rather than the voters. What is crippling in this equation is both the left and the right are willing to allow this subversive practice to pervert and manipulate the laws against the will of the people. Add to this equation the special interest groups that demand the latest fad, governments, and corporate end up in a death spiral that seems suicidal, yet planned at the same time.

Governments have too much power.

Governments are made up of too many dependent institutions with their fingers in pies they have no need to be in. You have incumbent power in the hands of unelected people, and often unseen as well. Deep State does not need to be a coordinated conspiracy to exist.

These issues are bad enough, but we also have a situation where people have realized that they could vote for their wallet. Government becomes what can it do for me not what can I do for my society. The more the money gets seen to be available for distribution the more people sidel up to this nipple.

Voting this way sees the power of government taken away from the people and to rests in the hands of of those who have paid to play.

What could a new Society look like?

What would a new economy and government look like with the following conditions?

Barter is allowed.

People may barter time and goods from person to person.

People are encouraged to use the digital currency on their phones, but they don't have to.

There is only a digital currency.

There is no physical currency.

The currency is a stablecoin based on calories.

One coin or credit is able to purchase 100 calories from a Boarder Store.

It is stored on your phone that only you can operate.

Wait, what am I talking about?

This is about Book Two in my Gripping the Ether series.

Transactions are done phone to phone.

Everyone over the age of 14 has a phone.

Under 14s, get very little time on a phone or any other screen. For teaching and entertainment, a parent or adult has to be in the room for the 'screen' to work. A TV has to have a phone plugged into it to show anything.

There is some serious work being done on the rise in ADHD being linked to young children using phones, expecting the human avatar to be like a real-life human, but it is not. This breaks the child's perceptions and causes confused learning between the avatar and reality and ADHA is a consequence.

Everyone over the age of 14 is expected to work.

One hour in a Duty and one hour in a Skill, each workday of the of their 6 day week.

If they do not work, their phone does not work.

Each transaction has a 2% fee.

Pay some 100 credits, they get 98 and the Treasury gets 2.

This is the only tax.

It is from the Treasury that people are paid for their Duty Work. Every one is paid the same in their Duty, 10 Credits an hour, be they a Doctor or a 14 year old mopping a floor.

A People Currency

The US has several branches of government.

We would have totally separate and different arenas. The Treasury exists independently of any Parliament, Senate or House.

Separate from a President or Prime Minister, not reporting to either.

The Treasury has its own constitution that can not be changed by legislation from the House, Senate, or be it Parliament, but only by a constitutional review from within the Treasury through its own electoral system.

This would be the same for the Judicial.

The Currency is benchmarked to calories. 1 credit equals 100 calories at a Boarder Store.

Becoming a Citizen

Apprentice

Everyone coming to Gael Innis starts their road to Citizenship as an apprentice and works four hours a day in a Duty.

This could be a Doctor in the Hospital (Schools are run by each community, not the Government), working to build out the next homes for the next immigrants or flying patrol for the islands and Vigilant.

The Duty is about the skills a person already has and putting them to good use. The Duty could be in their profession, nurse, welders, (no lawyers), they might be a globe pilot and run defense for the islands from Vigilant.

The Week is six days long, and people are in one of three different cycles.

  • Week One, 1, 2, 3, 4, on, 5, 6, off.
  • Week Two, 1, 2, on, 3, 4, off, 5, 6, on.
  • Week Three, 1, 2, off, 3, 4, on, 5, 6, on.

There can be shifts on these days as well, depending on what skills a person has, that might necessitate them working nights, i.e, Doctor, Pilot.

Everyone doing a Duty is paid 10 credits an hour.

Each person is also expected to work 4 hours a day in a Skill. Either they are upskilling themselves so as to be useful, or they are teaching their Skill.

Everyone starts working at age 14.

  • 14 1 Hour Duty and 1 Hour Skill a work day, 10 Credits.
  • 15 2 Hours Duty and 2 Hours Skill a work day, 20 Credits.
  • 16 3 Hours Duty and 3 Hours Skill a work day, 30 Credits.
  • 17 4 Hours Duty and 4 Hours Skill a work day, 40 Credits.

Everyone else as an apprentice is working 4 Hours Duty and 4 Hours Skill a work day, 40 Credits.

The Skill is learning to do something new that would make their Duty more meaningful, that you might have Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose in the Duty

This is not paid time.

A person's Duty might be to teach their Skill.

A person's Skill might be that they are teaching a skill, so that they are getting paid for this time as well.

Then people are encouraged to take on a passion.

We want people to become creators and not merely consumers.
